Barbara Van Kirk, founder and President of IQ Inc. in Murrysville, has been awarded the distinction of 2011 Woman-Owned Business of the Year by the Western Pennsylvania Small Business Network.

The award recognizes exceptional leadership, talent and dedication in small business organizations in the Western Pennsylvania region.

Founded in 1994, IQ provides professional consulting and software development services to companies with engineering needs, and assists professionals in securing their ideal jobs. IQ specializes in providing Software Engineering expertise at the project level and in consulting service agreements.

Barbara attributes her success to the dedication and integrity of her consultants and staff in successful relationship-building and understanding clients’ needs for technical solutions and problem-solving capabilities. Her business model allows the flexibility for IQ consultants to develop their career path and seek new challenges, while continuing to provide clients with the expertise they have come to expect.

She will be recognized at the 35^th Annual Small Business Awards Luncheon and Tradeshow at Station Square on Friday, May 27^th.
