New – Sr. Linux Administrator Needed!

IQ Inc. has a need for a Sr Linux Administrator for a client near the downtown Pittsburgh area.

 Unable to process / transfer Visas

 Responsibilities

•       Provide systems administration support for RedHat based environments.  Design, support and troubleshoot RedHat cluster technologies.

•       Define and follow standards and best practices for server and operating system builds.

•       Work in a matrix support environment to provide 24X7 production support for RedHat Linux server environments.

•       Work with project teams to define and build server environments based on customer requirements.

•       Develop and write server and operating system design documents.

•       Develop new processes and technologies to automate operating system installations and builds (custom scripts, RedHat kickstarts).

•       Must be able to pack, unpack and assemble server components, run fiber and copper under floor cables, swap hardware components on malfunctioning servers.

•       Configure and install Dell blade servers, HP servers, iLO, DRAC.

•       Research, test and implement new hardware and software technologies.

 

Requirements

•       5+ years providing support for mission critical RedHat Linux environments.

•       Experience administering RedHat Enterprise 3.X, 4.X, 5.X servers running in a 24X7 environment.

•       In depth knowledge of TCP/IP and UDP protocols and LAN/WAN networking.

•       Experience with PXE, nfs, nis, shell scripting, proactive monitoring, patch management and end user support.

•       Experience with volume management using LVM utilizing both local and SAN/NAS disk storage.

•       Performance tuning and capacity planning.

•       Experience supporting corporate network based services such as DNS, NIS, NFS, SSH, autofs.

•       Experience supporting Oracle 10G and 11G database environments including RAC, ASM, OCFS, raw devices, network bonding, private interconnects.

•       Strong shell scripting skill in bash and ksh and PERL.

•       Strong oral and written communications skills. Must be able to write root cause analysis reports, project plans and architecture and design documents.

•       RHCE or equivalent experience.

•       Solid understanding of SANs, fiber switches and fabric, RAID and server backup/recovery processes and technology.

•       Experience designing, building and supporting application development environments.

  QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

  • 2+ years of project experience configuring Siebel v7.5 or above required (5+ years preferred)
  • Project experience in a technical Siebel Configuration roles using Siebel eConsumer Goods
  • 2+ full Siebel implementations using v7.5 or higher (5+ preferred)

 Special Requirements:

 Working understanding of Siebel development best practices

  • Basic knowledge of trade promotions management processes strong plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong configuration skills using Siebel Tools v 8.0 and higher (required)

Responsibilities:
• Software developer on a team of software, electrical and mechanical engineers developing robotic systems.
• Support a common robotic platform architecture that is used on unmanned ground vehicles.Â
• Perform subsystem definition, preliminary and detailed design, design implementation, subsystem and system integration, and testing for a subsystem.
• Participate in software requirements reviews, preliminary and critical design reviews, integration readiness reviews, and software acceptance reviews.
• Research problems discovered by quality assurance or product support and develop solutions to the problem.

Requirements:
• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent plus 3 years experience
• Experience developing C++ applications in a Linux environment
• Strong software development skills
• Experience in real-time, robotics, instrumentation, data collection and analysis
• Experience in developing sensor models, sensor simulation, and /or integration with a simulation environment
• Experience designing, developing, and testing software interfaces to various sensors (IMU, LADAR, RADAR, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Pluses:
• M.S. in Robotics, Computer Science or equivalent plus 4 years experience
• Experience developing software algorithms for hardware systems
• Knowledge of UML, OOA/OOD
• Experience using software development tools such as configuration control, bug tracking, code reviews, unit testing, process automation
• Experience in software development for military applications
• Experience with JAUS / AS-4 versions 3.2, 3.3 and / or 4.0
SLAM – Simultaneous Localization and Mapping a plus!

Responsibilities:
• Verify test item operates as designed. Provide technical expertise in testing and testing methods.
• Develop test plans, test specifications and test procedures based on design requirements and specifications.
• Identify and provide estimates for duration of and material requirements for testing activities.
• Define hardware and software testing configurations and operating environments necessary to conduct defined test activities.
• Document results of functional and integrated tests on hardware and software for components, modules, assemblies and systems.  Review test results with design engineering.
• Provide assistance to test technicians on test setups and execution according to test plans and procedures.
• Specify and evaluate test equipment and tools used during testing.
• Perform troubleshooting on test anomalies/test failures.
• Perform Regression analysis/Regression testing.

Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
• 3-5 years experience.
• Distributed Control System (DCS) background and experience.
• Experience with Emerson Ovation DCS platform or equivalent DCS experience.
• Strong Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of I&C projects utilizing DCS in Power Plants or other heavy industrial industries.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Able to travel as required.

.NET Micro Framework Goes Open Source

Last week Microsoft announced that the .NET Micro Framewwork verison 4.0 would be released as open source… along with some new framework features.  This move means that the Framework will continue to evolve organically through the development community and offer third parties the opportunity to repackage the framework. It will be interesting to see how this decision effects embedded .NET application development.

New Tool Boosts .NET Development For Linux

A bit of news spotted by one of our software engineers, John P. Novell has developed a new add-in for Visual Studio that would allow developers to write .NET apps for Linux. This doesn’t appear to be a full-blown solution for leveraging the powerful .NET framwork on non-Windows operating systems, but it’s another step in the right direction.
