NEW – Hardware & Software Test Engineer Opportunity!

Hardware & Software Test Engineer:

Responsibilities:
• Verify test item operates as designed. Provide technical expertise in testing and testing methods.
• Develop test plans, test specifications and test procedures based on design requirements and specifications.
• Identify and provide estimates for duration of and material requirements for testing activities.
• Define hardware and software testing configurations and operating environments necessary to conduct defined test activities.
• Document results of functional and integrated tests on hardware and software for components, modules, assemblies and systems.  Review test results with design engineering.
• Provide assistance to test technicians on test setups and execution according to test plans and procedures.
• Specify and evaluate test equipment and tools used during testing.
• Perform troubleshooting on test anomalies/test failures.
• Perform Regression analysis/Regression testing.

Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
• 3-5 years experience.
• Distributed Control System (DCS) background and experience.
• Experience with Emerson Ovation DCS platform or equivalent DCS experience.
• Strong Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of I&C projects utilizing DCS in Power Plants or other heavy industrial industries.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Able to travel as required.

Responsibilities:
• Develop human machine interfaces in plant control room; develop screens used directly by plant operators.

Requirements:
• Ability to design, implement, and test user interface applications
• Experience in a plant operations environment a plus.
• Engineering/Computer Science degree preferred, but completion of a Nuclear Power Plant Program or training in a specific nuclear plant program acceptable.
• Minimum 2 years experience.
• Must have understanding of software development lifecycle.
• Experience with Ovation tools a plus.

Contract to hire opportunity.  Located in Pittsburgh/Cranberry, PA.

Smarty pants! Pittsburgh’s labor force is one of the most educated in the country!

.NET Micro Framework Goes Open Source

Last week Microsoft announced that the .NET Micro Framewwork verison 4.0 would be released as open source… along with some new framework features.  This move means that the Framework will continue to evolve organically through the development community and offer third parties the opportunity to repackage the framework. It will be interesting to see how this decision effects embedded .NET application development.
